INNOVATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT (ISD Consults)

Building the capacity of communities, governments, and local institutions to drive their own development - and sustain it.

ISD Consults is an international development consulting practive founded on one conviction: no one can do for you better than you can do for yourself. We work alongside local actors - not above them - to build the skills, systems, and partnerships that create lasting change.

Our work is organized around six interconnected pillars – each one designed to reduce dependency on external support and build the conditions for self-sustaining development.

Our Key Strategic Pillars

1. Strengthening Government Institutions
Objective:  Build effective governance systems that promote sustainable development.
2. Building the Capacity of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)
Objective: Strengthen local organizations to deliver community support programs.
3. Empowering Communities for Self-Development
Objective: Shift development efforts from external aid to community-led solutions.
4. Engaging Youth in Development Objective: Equip young people with skills and opportunities to participate in national development.
5. Strengthening Private Sector Collaboration
Objective: Leverage private sector investment for job creation and development programs.
6. Effective Engagement with International Donors
Objective: Secure long-term funding and partnerships for sustainable development.

Core Competencies

  • We conduct gender and social inclusion analysis for multisectoral programs, using a right and results-based approach.
  • We develop strategies, design, manage, implement, evaluate, report and document education, youth, health, food security, climate change, energy, infrastructure, etc. programs.
  • We build capacity in gender analysis, gender mainstreaming and programming to promote girls and women’s rights.
  • We as conduct needs assessments and are dedicated to promoting community participation.

Our Vision

Empowered governments, civil society organizations, and communities that control their own resources, lead their own development, and build economies that grow from within.

Our Mission

To empower governments, civil society, and communities to be the drivers of their own economic development - unlocking local economic potential, reducing reliance on external aid and fostering long-term, locally driven economic growth.

Our Motto:
No one can do for you better than you can do for yourself.

Since no one knows your experience as well as you do, therefore, no one should tell you how to run your life. They can help you develop your potential with human and financial resources in a manner that enables you to GROW, MOVE UP and TAKE CONTROL.

The standard we are working toward

In 1965, Singapore was among the world’s poorest nations – no natural resources, high poverty, deep inequality.

Within one generation, intentional investment in human capital, skills development, strong local institutions, and strategic private sector partnerships transformed it into one of the world’s most prosperous economies.

That transformation was built from within – not delivered from outside.

That is the standard we believe developing countries, particularly across Africa, are fully capable of achieving.

This conviction drives every engagement ISD Consults takes on.

Our target population is men and women with a focus on women, children, girls and youth and the vulnerable. We partner with Governments, Civil Society Organizations, Private Sector and Communities
